My kids have taken a geography course in their primary grades, but let’s face it; there are 50 states to memorize not to mention their location on the map in our country. It’s not easy for this exhausted mom to remember it on my own let alone try to figure out a creative way to teach it to my kids.
Research shows that a kid can memorize anything if we just set it to a tune. For some kids all it takes is to hear something set to a song, just a few times, and it becomes embedded in their memory.

About Tour The States Brand:
In 2008, I co-founded a brand called Marbles: The Brain Store which grew into a 40-store retail chain selling educational toys and games. This stemmed from a personal passion of mine for using non-traditional teaching (toys/games/music, etc) to help build better brains. About 8 years ago, we produced two albums of educational music to help kids (and adults!) learn fun brain-building facts. Those albums are called Brain Beats and Brain Beats 2 and are available on all of the streaming services. The craziest part of this story is that we also created music videos for the two most popular songs from each album, put them on YouTube, and both have gone viral! Our Tour the States video has nearly 40 million views (it averages around 22K views/day) and Tour the World has over 14 million views! It has been such a bizarre and fulfilling experience to see the popularity of the songs spread. I've had teachers, parents and kids from literally every state in the US (plus Canada and the UK) reach out to me to say that they've used the songs to learn their states and state capitals + countries.
Along the way, I've had thousands of requests for posters of the artwork created in the videos. Last fall, I started selling the Tour the States poster and just this, I launched the Tour the World poster as well as a deck of flash cards that follows along with the song using the lyrics as prompts.
