MacKid Review! We Had a Blast @ Discovery Cube Los Angeles

Explore everything prehistoric from now to Labor Day!

By Aimee Mendoza, Macaroni Kid Arcadia Assistant Publisher August 3, 2018

We went to see the dinosaur exhibit and stayed for all of the hands on fun. As we walked in from the parking lot, my seven year old could not contain his excitement. “Mom, it’s real

dinosaurs!” By real, we’re talking moving parts, and giant!

He was so excited when we got inside the building that we didn’t know where to start. He was

like a ping pong ball, jumping between one hands on feature and the next. There were stations

that showed how weather systems work, and how fish live in different ecosystems.

There was an interactive grocery store that showed how to look at labels to determine nutritional value, as

well as how to look at packaging to see how it impacts the environment. There was a home that

illustrated emergency preparedness and conservation by making the child an inspector with a

tablet and checklist. There was even an entire area devoted to hockey and how physics plays a

role in hockey games.

And then there were the dinosaurs at the Discovery Science Center Los Angeles! Huge moving, roaring dinosaurs. There were stations talking

about different regions where dinosaurs lived, and how dinosaur fossils are excavated. The best

part was seeing the dinosaurs up close. I was a little worried that my almost three year old

would be afraid, but he loved it!

All in all, Discovery Cube LA was an amazing experience. We will definitely go back to explore again!

IT’S A DINO SUMMER AT DISCOVERY CUBE ORANGE COUNTY, LOS ANGELES AND DISCOVERY CUBE OCEAN QUEST

Explore Everything Prehistoric With “Dinosaurs Around the World” at Orange County and Los Angeles Locations & “Sea Monsters” at Newport Beach

SANTA ANA, CA, May 7, 2018:  Explore everything prehistoric from Memorial Day
to Labor Day with the exciting Dinosaurs Around the World adventure at Discovery Cube’s
Orange County and Los Angeles locations and the mysterious Sea Monsters: Prehistoric to
Modern Day Ocean Predators journey at Newport Beach.

“We are very excited to bring prehistoric adventures to all three of our campuses this summer,”
said Joe Adams, CEO, Discovery Science Foundation. “For the very first time, we’ll be offering a
look at life on earth millions of years ago, both on the land and sea, at our Los Angeles and
Santa Ana Discovery Cube locations and at Discovery Cube Ocean Quest. We are thrilled to
make popular experiences, like our Paleontologist dig pits, available across all locations.”
Dinosaurs Around the World takes you back in time on a tour of an Earth very different from
today – a time before the continents as we know them existed, when lush landscapes covered
Africa and greenery was the norm in Antarctica! With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered
narrative, fossils, authentic casts, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements you’ll
experience the Age of Reptiles as it comes to life!

Become a paleontologist as you excavate dinosaur fossils and reassemble them. Participate in
an interactive stage show with your family or field trip group where you will learn how big the

dinosaurs really were and how they roamed the Earth. And join the Cube for a dinosaur-
themed birthday party where you can make your own dinosaur egg.

From Herman Melville's Moby Dick to Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea,
the ocean has long been a subject of deep wonder and mystery. Today, the ocean remains a
mysterious place for most of us, dark and frightening, with tales of sea monsters and leviathans
lurking in the deep. Journey with us to the Sea Monsters: Prehistoric to Modern Day Ocean
Predators exhibit as we explore the depths of the ocean in search of modern day sea monsters.
