Celebrating its 80th Season, Southern California's longest continuously operating ski area, Snow Valley Mountain Resort in Running Springs, CA, has revolutionized local skiing and snowboarding with the December 2017 opening of the Southland's first six-person, high-speed chairlift - the $6 Million Snow Valley Express.

Non-skiers/snowboarders love Snow Valley's sledding hill, as its SNOW PLAY area is home to So Cal's only lift-served sledding Fridays through Sundaysand holiday periods. Other days sledders walk up the hill. Sleds are always included, as are thrilling downhill sled rides. Accessories such as snow boots, gloves and waterproof pants are reasonably priced and available in our Sport Shop. Located adjacent to the base area sun deck, watch your friends/family take part in the Snow Play adventure while enjoying some food or a drink.
WHAT: The new Snow Valley Express is a detachable, six-pack, high-speed chairlift:
- 6-person chairlift, Southern California's first six-pack lift.
- 2,600 skiers and snowboarders transported per hour.
- 4.6 minute ride, covering 4,636 feet long -well over 3/4 of a mile.
1,000 feet per minute speed, while chairs detach and slow down considerably for passenger loading and unloading.
$6 Million investment by Snow Valley ownership in new chairlift.
$1+ Million investment in previous season on snowmaking & Rental Shop.
Increase in uphill capacity at Snow Valley means many more runs per hour for guests.
Many spectacular views of Southern California mountains and Big Bear Lake.
The lift will be constructed by ski industry icon Leitner-Poma, whose technology and engineering are considered to be the best in the industry.
This new lift puts Snow Valley in impressive ski company: only about 75 of North America's 3,084 chairlifts are six-passenger, including those at iconic ski resorts such as Northern
California's Heavenly and Northstar, Colorado's Breckenridge, Vail and Keystone, and Utah's Park City.
New at Ski School: 2017-18 is the first full season for a new300-foot moving carpet lift that expands Snow Valley's learning-only terrain by 40,000 square feet, a 200% increase. This boosts the number of runs new skiers and snowboarders can take during their lessons, more quickly preparing them to load regular chairlifts and mix with experienced skiers and snowboarders. It also allows Snow Valley to provide more lessons.
