Why is sleep so important?

Getting the proper amount of sleep is crucial for EVERYONE. For babies, sleep is essential for maturation of the brain and their memory. Infants who lack sleep will have frequent night wakings, and be crankier throughout the day. Several studies have also shown that babies who get less sleep will gain more fat and are at higher risk of being overweight. 

In toddlers, lack of sleep will cause behavioral issues, frequent tantrums, night terrors, restless leg syndrome, and an increased risk of diabetes. As they get older, problems in school may arise, and various mental disorders will appear such as ADHD and depression.

Even adults need a full night's sleep for their overall health and well being. Lack of sleep impairs performance. It will generate poor concentration, mood changes, and can cause you to fall asleep while driving. Getting your child on a set schedule will not only make you more rested and happier, but your child will benefit from getting the proper amount of sleep as well.
