Loews Coronado Bay Resort: A “One Of A Kind” Family Friendly Hotel

A true family friendly luxury hotel

By Kathy E, MK Arcadia Publisher March 13, 2015

My family and I recently had the amazing opportunity to spend a few days at the beautiful Loews Coronado Bay Resort, located on Coronado Island, and let me tell you it was a wonderful place to stay. Ok, I will let you in on a secret, deep down I am a closet hotel snob - I like attention to detail, I like luxury, I like quality, and I like convenience. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel - Situated on a private 15-acre peninsula (just minutes from SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo, if your kids want to visit a theme park), the resort is surrounded by water offering incredible views of its private marina, the Pacific Ocean, Coronado Bay Bridge and the San Diego skyline.

From three pools to choose from at the resort (one designated specifically for kids), its own marina, a full spa, tennis courts, basketball courts, ping pong tables, a 3,800-square-foot organic Herb Garden, incredible restaurant options, and an oversized jungle gym with slides and benches and picnic tables, there really is something here to entertain everyone in the family. You will not sacrifice luxury or quality here. Loews was rated as one of the 10 Best Resorts in San Diego 2015 (USA Today) - and the award is very much deserving; the sleeping accommodations and activities and the attention to detail and service was impeccable.

Rooms:

The rooms were nothing less than what you would expect from a luxury property, comfortable, spacious, with breathtaking views of the bay or marina. All rooms offered furnished balconies with views ranging from the Pacific Ocean sunsets to the lights of downtown San Diego sparkling across the Bay with pillow top mattresses, custom furnishings and spacious bathrooms with oversized tubs.

Tip: You can also request that they kid proof your room with safety features if you have little ones 4 and under.

Loews Kids Club:
If you need some adult time to get away or relax at the spa, this is a wonderful option to keep your kids busy and they’ll definitely have a blast at the Loews Kids Club. Sign up for supervised activities for children ages 4-12 including magic tricks, sandcastle building, GPS-led scavenger hunts and more. Full-day sessions from 9am-5pm include lunch. Half-day sessions are from 9am-12pm or 1-5pm.  Lunch can be added to half-day sessions if requested. Advanced reservations are required.

Restaurants:
Where do I start? If you are a foodie like me, with four different dining options, this place is heaven. Each chef at each restaurant at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort takes “fresh” to a whole new level - the meal is prepared with fresh, local, responsibly-grown ingredients and fresh herbs from the resort’s own garden. Our family’s favorite, the Market Café which features California coastal cuisine in a relaxed indoor and outdoor setting overlooking the resorts beautiful marina.

Service:
The concierges at the Loews Coronado Bay resort know their city and gave our family spot-on recommendations for family-friendly activities and fun things to do in Coronado Bay.  In addition to all of the great experiences offered on-site, Loews offers complimentary shuttle services to Downtown Coronado Bay, Coronado’s 18 hole golf course and the Silver Strand Beach.

Coronado Bay was named one of the Top Beaches for Families in 2014 by Family Vacation Critic. Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers direct access to Silver Strand State Beach.  Just left of the main hotel entrance is an oversized jungle gym with slides and benches, picnic tables and a huge grass area for the kids (and you) to frolic in.  No room in the car to pack the bikes? Loews Coronado Bay resort offers bicycle, roller blade, wave runner, sailboat, motorboat and paddle boat rentals.
